Grade 10 Maths Videos
We have decided to create a series of extra maths help videos for the grade 10 CAPS curriculum.
We have started with algebra and will be adding videos weekly to our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/mathsatsharp). Please can you like and subscribe to our channel so that you always catch the videos as they are released.
On this page we will add the videos as well as the notes used in the video so that you can go over them again. I will also link to the worksheets that match the topic so that you can practice what you have learnt from the video. (It will be like have an extra maths tutor that is available all the time 😉 )
Algebra Videos
You can also download our study guide for grade 10 algebra for extra notes and exercises.
The Number System
In this video we explore the number system and the different ways that we define numbers. It is important to know the number system because these definitions will be used when you work with graphs and algebraic fractions, patterns, and many more topics.
Download the notes for this video about the number system.
You can use this worksheet (Worksheet 1: Algebra – The Number System) questions 1, 3, 4 and 9 to practice what you have learnt in this video.
Surds and Integers
In this video we explore what a surd is, and how to find between which two integers a surd lies. In other words, if we found the answer for the surd, which two whole numbers would the answer be between.
Download the notes for the video about surds and integers.
You can complete questions 2 and 3 of Worksheet 1:Algebra – The Number System. (link above).
Multiplying Binomials and Trinomials
In this video we show you how to multiply binomials with trinomials. A binomial is an expression with two terms and a trinomial is an expression with three terms.
Download the notes for this video on multiplying binomials and trinomials together.
Do questions 1 and 2 from Worksheet 2: Algebra – Multiplying and Factorising Expressions to practice the concepts in this video.
Factorising:
A brief introduction to Factorisation
In this video we give a quick over view of factorisation and the different ways you can factorise.
Factorising trinomials when a = 1
This video gives you a method for factorising trinomials when the a value in front of the x squared is 1.
You can visit Worksheet 2: Algebra – Multiplying and Factorising Expressions and do question 6.
Factorising Trinomials when the a value is not 1
In this video we show you several different methods that you can use to factorise trinomials when the a value in front of the x squared is not one.
