Join us for the Sharp, Edu-matic and Twinkl webinar focused on bringing play into the classroom. There are also great prizes from Staedtler for those who join the live session.
Let them play – help them learn!
Join us as we explore the benefits of play, and how we can use it in our classrooms – from coding and robotics all the way through to teaching maths concepts.
Our speakers include Linda Roberts (Teacher), Carrie Johnston (OT), and Talitha Moore (maths nerd).
Linda: Playing with Coding and Robotics
Linda was a foundation phase teacher for over 50 years, before she started designing the coding and robotics worksheets twinkl. Her worksheets are designed with the average classroom in mind – where we don’t all have the most amazing resources and thousands of rands to spend on equipment. No expensive equipment, easy to do, and easy to plan – the best way to teach critical thinking, algorithms and pattern recognition.
Carrie Johnston: The Importance of Play for all Ages
Carrie has been an OT for over 15 years and works in a school in the Western Cape where learners have learning, emotional and social difficulties. She has a special passion for encouraging play in all facets of children’s lives and will share not only why play is so critical to a child’s development, but also some helpful ways to support children to engage in play.
Talitha Moore: Using Magnetic tiles in the classroom for playing and learning.
With an Honours degree in Developmental Psychology and having spent the last 12 years promoting maths education in South Africa; Tal has a passion for seeing our children not only thrive but pursue maths with passion. The workshop will focus on using magnetic tiles to play with maths and languages in the classroom. Tal has always said that children who play and have fun in the classroom learn the most. And by using concrete concepts we are able to help learners grasp more abstract concepts.
