One of the teachers (Marissa Di Silvestro from Glenvista High School) who receives our monthly newsletter, thought that we might all find this very interesting.
Two things:
The first is that Angie Motshekga, the basic education minister is going to institute a skills audit for maths teachers. She hopes to complete this audit by the end of the 2014 financial year.
Secondly, the Department of Education has started a database of qualified teachers. This will allow them to fill posts at a much faster rate with qualified teachers. To actually view the database go to the home page and right at the bottom right of the page is a link called “unemployed teachers” click on this link to go through and find the database to download.
Thanks Marissa for this helpful information:)
What are your thoughts about having your maths skills audited? Do you think it is necesssary?
